A couple weeks ago I turned 30. Leading up to my birthday I wrote a post on what I learned in my 20s.
But I did something else. I sent an email out to my subscribers (subscribe here) and asked readers age 37 and older what advice they would give their 30-year-old selves. The idea was that I would crowdsource the life experience from my older readership and create another article based on their collective wisdom.
After clearing out the regional administration headquarters and another government building, Donetsk city police chief Maksim Kirindyasov said that more than 70 people were taken into custody. They were all Ukrainian citizens from the Donetsk region, but a Russian citizen was not among them.
US, its allies want ‘puppet government’ in Ukraine: Analyst
The United States and its Western allies have created a “false” and “violent revolution” in Ukraine in order to put in place a “puppet government” in that country to continue their “imperialistic” and “criminal” activities, an analyst says.
"The Western allies have once again created a false revolution in Ukraine…funded heavily by USAID [the US Agency for International Development] and other European organizations,” said Scott Rickard, a former American intelligence linguist in Florida.

MOSCOW — Russian President Vladimir Putin offered a vigorous defense of his country’s intervention in Ukraine, saying Tuesday that the pro-Russian former government in Kiev was illegally overthrown and that the man he regards as Ukraine’s legitimate president asked him for military help.

China’s government recently announced ambitious plans that could make the Chinese economy more market driven, consumer driven, transparent, and prone to profitable investing. Implementation remains a significant challenge, but it is crucial to rectifying the country’s currently unbalanced system.
“It’s about cutting power, it’s a self-imposed revolution. It will be very painful and even feel like cutting one’s wrist.”

What is the “new normal” for aviation?
As the major western economies emerge from the turmoil of the global financial crisis, we find ourselves in a strange and uncertain world. Growth rates are disappointing, relative to the experience before 2007. In the UK, economic growth averaged 3% per annum from 1982 until 2007, more than doubling the size of our economy in 25 years. The only comparable period of sustained UK economic growth was the post-war “golden age” of the 1950s and 1960s. But since the trough of the recession in 2009, UK economic growth has averaged not much more than 1% per annum. Other major western economies are also struggling. In the three years 2011–2013, US economic growth is set to average under 2% and the euro area has struggled to register any growth at all. Emerging and developing economies—by contrast— are performing much more strongly. Even though growth has slowed down in some of the emerging superpowers like China and India, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is still projecting growth of 4.5–5% in the emerging and developing world this year and next.

Unfortunately everything in Russia is getting ass backwards and Olympic Sochi too.
Fifteen days are remaining before the opening of the Winter Olympics. Let's take a walk to Imeretinsky lowland that is where the Olympic Park is. We hope to see surrounds look like on the glossy leaflets but the reality is far more prosaic: newly built sidewalks are ruining, construction works in Sochi suburbs are never ending and daily trash mixed with heaps of debris are all around. Guess why there is neither a garbage container nor a trash bin near the Olympic Park area? For the security reasons!
Eventually, welcome to the place of Olympic level hospitality.

I was in Manaus, Amazonas, during the Brazilian Aquathlon (swimming and running) championship. I photographed it from the water and my lens got completely wet, but there was so much energy in these boys that I just didn't worry about that.

Global banks are the financial services wing of the drug cartels
As HSBC executives apologise to the US Senate for laundering drugs money, the fact is that nothing changes
"Steal a little," wrote Bob Dylan, "they throw you in jail; steal a lot and they make you a king." These days, he might recraft the line to read: deal a little dope, they throw you in jail; launder the narco billions, they'll make you apologise to the US Senate.

Analysts optimistic about China's economic growth
Foreign analysts have expressed optimism about China's economic growth in the near future, after data suggested that the national economy succeeded in averting "hard landing" risks in 2013.
The Chinese economy grew 7.7 percent in 2013, avoiding "hard landing" risks and demonstrating China's determination of economic restructuring.
Interpreting the growth figure, which exceeded the government target of 7.5 percent, overseas analysts believed that the driving force of the Chinese economy has changed.

8 Rules to Make Telecommuting Work
Culture is key at Blinds.com. But letting employees work from home is a crucial part of maintaining that culture.
Marissa Mayer, Yahoo's CEO, is in good company by recently mandating that all employees report into the office rather than work from home. Zappos, famous for its culture, wouldn't have become what it is with employees located off-campus in disparate locations. In fact, one of CEO Tony Hsieh's rules for success is to maximize serendipity by creating the "opportunity for meaningful collisions." People don't collide when they're miles apart.
